Can a student work while going to school?
The Doctor of Chiropractic degree curriculum is demanding. Therefore it is not recommended that a student work full time while attending the College. Students are often able to keep part-time jobs with flexible hours that can be worked around classroom and study schedules. Students in the first and second trimesters are encouraged not to work at all until they are able to determine if their schedules allow for part-time work.
Can a student concurrently pursue the Massage Therapy Program certification and the Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Chiropractic degrees?
A student can concurrently pursue the Massage Therapy Program certification and the Bachelor of Science degree. However, a student cannot concurrently pursue the Massage Therapy Program certification and the Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Is a bachelor’s degree required to enter the Doctor of Chiropractic program?

No.

However, students can work toward the Bachelor’s of Science in Human Biology concurrently with the Doctor of Chiropractic degree. The degrees are earned concurrently because during the first 1 ½ years in the Doctor of Chiropractic program, 29 credits will count not only towards the Doctor of Chiropractic degree, but also towards the Bachelor of Science degree.

Some states require a bachelor’s degree along with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree to obtain a license to practice. The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards(FCLB) web site contains state-by-state requirements for licensing.

How does a new doctor of chiropractic select an area to open a practice?

The location a chiropractor eventually sets up his or her practice depends on many factors. First and foremost, the area selected should reflect the doctor's own sensibilities, values and comfort level. Whether it is in a city or town where the doctor has been raised and/or lived in or a new location, it is crucial to research several variables before taking the steps to start a new business.

In order to determine if an area is "good," it is recommended that the doctor contact the local Chamber of Commerce to obtain demographics on the city, including specific information about the population, number of chiropractors currently practicing, and any groups, clubs and organizations that may present networking opportunities with either an existing neighborhood or new residents (who represent prospective patients).

How long is the Doctor of Chiropractic program?
Cleveland Chiropractic College offers two options each containing the same subject areas.

1. The 12-trimester course of study is structured to be completed in four years.
2. The accelerated 10-trimester course of study can be completed in three and a half years.

Cleveland Chiropractic College offers two different ways to complete your Doctorate: 3½ years ( 10 trimesters) or 4 years ( 12 trimesters). The great thing about these options is that you can speed up or slow down your program to fit your educational needs. Whichever trimester program you choose, you will begin in your first trimester with hands-on class learning.
