Jan. 12, 2012ABC reports new study favoring chiropractic in treating neck pain
According to a new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, chiropractic is the most effective treatment for common neck pain.
Chiropractic eclipsed all options in a new study relating to the treatment of common neck pain. The study, funded by the National Institute of Health, favors alternative medicine over a doctor's prescription for pain.
In the study, 272 patients with recent-onset neck pain were treated using three different methods: medication, exercise and chiropractic care. Patients treated by a chiropractor experienced the highest rate of success with 32 percent saying they were pain free.
Exercise followed with a 30 percent success rate. Only 13 percent reported positive results from doctor-prescribed medication.
