Jan. 25, 2012Academic excellence luncheon held for undergraduates
A celebration was held Jan. 25 at Cleveland Chiropractic College to honor the academic achievements of a select group of undergraduate students. Members of the College’s administration gathered in the Private Dining Room with nine students to recognize their accomplishments during the Fall 2011 trimester. Each student invited had to meet strict criteria to be included in the special luncheon event.
Representing the administration were Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, president; Dr. Ashley Cleveland, provost; and Dr. Tim Schoof, dean of undergraduate studies. The students were commended for their overall commitment to their academic career. To receive an invite to the event, the nine students had to have attained a GPA of 3.50 or higher, while also having completed a minimum of 12 science courses. In addition, they must have completed at least 24 hours at the College, have withdrawn from no classes and have no incomplete grades due to poor attendance.
Sarah Shelnutt, undergraduate coordinator, coordinated the event. She said the luncheon is meant to inspire the students to greater things.
“Recognizing undergraduate achievement is part of our duty as an institution,” Shelnutt said. “We hope the luncheon will be an encouragement to continue their hard work.”
Students recognized include: McKenna B. Abercrombie, Maralee Bauman, Jarrett T. Cullens, Heather Fay, Paul Fay, Chantel Heinen, Thomas Magurany, George K. Nichols and Grishma Patel.
