Financial Aid Process

We’ll assist you in getting the help you need

Applying for financial aid and scholarships can seem overwhelming. Our financial aid specialists will help you evaluate the cost of your education, including the cost of financing it through grants, scholarships and Federal Student Aid programs. We can also assist you in determining your eligibility and in applying for financial aid.

To begin the financial aid process:

• Go to studentaid.gov to complete the steps to receive federal aid.
• Create an account.  You will use your FSA ID login for certain U.S. Department of Education websites.
• Apply for aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. The School Code for Cleveland University-Kansas City is 014438.
• Contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss how you plan to use financial aid to finance your education at financialaid@cleveland.edu.

Next steps:

• First-time Cleveland borrowers will need to Complete Aid Process at studentaid.gov.
• Complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for the Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan.
• Complete Entrance Counseling.
• You will receive a notification if you are selected for verification (the process to check the information on the FAFSA for accuracy).
• You will receive a notification when your awarded financial aid funds are awaiting your approval.
• Approve your awards via Cleveland Connect (the student information portal).
