In a world full of information that sometimes offers more opinion and guesses than facts, you shouldn’t be surprised there are misstatements and misunderstandings about medical careers. Just as you wouldn’t trust a diagnosis pulled from a symptom-finding website, remember there’s a lot you don’t know about becoming a chiropractor.
The Doctor of Chiropractic: Here to Help
When you have a passion for helping people live healthier lives, there’s no better career field than healthcare. Not only is working in healthcare personally satisfying, but it’s expanding at a record pace. Healthcare now is 18% of the U.S. economy, according to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professionals (ASAHP).
Of particular importance in this healthcare reality is the growth of specialists. Today’s medical community uses referrals to specialists to deliver better care and help drive down costs through earlier, more accurate diagnoses. A doctor of chiropractic is your low-back and neck pain specialist.
The Doctor of Chiropractic: Your Spinal Specialist
Doctors of chiropractic are healthcare professionals focused on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the spine and other parts of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic, from the Greek meaning, done by hand, is practiced by more than 70,000 chiropractors throughout the world.
There’s a natural biologic ability of the human body to restore and maintain health without introducing prescription medicine. Doctors of chiropractic seek to relieve interference caused by disturbed joint biomechanics through manual assessment and spinal adjustment.
Care from a doctor of chiropractic is also comprehensive, covering diet, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
Why Chiropractic Fits Healthcare’s Future
Patient satisfaction surveys and evidence-based research show the chiropractic profession is providing safe, cost-effective treatments.
