What a year it has been for food here at Cleveland University-Kansas City! And that was proven with our talented Café Cleveland chefs and their award for “Department of the Year.” So in honor of chefs Bianca Mason, Lee Killian and Patricia Williams, here are the most craved dishes of 2015.
1. Made-to-Order Wraps – Pick your wrap flavor. Pick your preference of meat. Pick your toppings. Pick your sauce. Get it grilled Panini style. Wah-lah, you’ve got yourself a delightfully fresh wrap that will more than fulfill your starving stomach and brains. I’d have to recommend for you to try it buffalo style by getting grilled or fried chicken with green peppers, tomato, cheese, and buffalo sauce on a sun-dried tomato tortilla.
2. Chicken Fried Chicken or Chicken Kiev – These two dishes are a personal favorite of mine. The chicken fried chicken is exactly what is expected. It’s juicy, tender, and crispy. The Kiev is a nice little variation of the chicken fried chicken. The Kiev has a bursting European flavor very unique to our American palates.
3. Taco Salad – This one is for sure a line extender. I’m pretty sure some people run from the end of class to the café to get in line for this one. The meal is everything it sounds like except what most wouldn’t picture, the bowl is a giant taco chip! Holy Guacamole! Let’s give the chefs a big thumbs-up for this unique, yet very efficient way to spice up taco salad.
4. Stir Fry – If there were a national holiday here at Cleveland, it would be National Stir Fry Day. Just starting to talk about this is making me salivate. This meal starts off with your choice of grilled chicken, fried chicken, or shrimp. Your choice of sauce is next from a spicy Szechuan to a General Tso or even teriyaki. After that, you add all the toppings you desire. The chefs quickly grill it up and you have a masterpiece waiting to be devoured.
