The Mentors Club at Cleveland pairs new students entering the Doctor of Chiropractic program with students that are further along in the curriculum.
Last Friday was the Mentors Club meet and greet with the Tri I students. The mentors met our new mentees for lunch in the CCC cafeteria. We shared advice and stuffed ourselves with plenty of free pizza. The mentors answered questions on teachers, tests and balancing school and social life. There was also plenty of talk about fun things to do in the KC area on a student’s budget, and upcoming social events at Cleveland.
The Mentors Club is not only great for the Tri I students, but as mentors, we also benefit. It is great to get to know the new faces that fill the hallways of Cleveland. Now that I am in my eighth trimester it is easy to get into a routine and only interact with the students that I am in class with. Being a mentor makes me break out of that routine and expand my social circle at school.
