At a time when there’s considerable concern about prescriptive opioids, the dangers of invasive procedures, and treating pain symptoms vs. pain causes, entering a chiropractic program focusing on health and wellness is a logical choice. Here’s why.
The Chiropractic Program: All-in on Health & Wellness
A doctor of chiropractic program teaches students how to restore and preserve health without the use of drugs or surgery. Doctors of chiropractic represent the world’s third-largest physician-level independent profession after medical doctors and dentists.
More than 70,000 chiropractors are meeting health and wellness concerns worldwide. Like those who are an M.D. or D.D.S., a doctor of chiropractic – a D.C. – can treat anyone without a referral, and any recommended treatment plan is the result of an extensive patient assessment.
Treatment plans may include:
Not surprisingly, more than 87% of health plans include coverage for chiropractic services, according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).
The Chiropractic Program: All About Health & Wellness
The chiropractic approach acknowledges the role of the body’s nervous system in the control, coordination, and regulation of the body. Spinal or joint dysfunction can affect nerve function and interfere with the body’s ability to maintain proper health.
The Chiropractic Program: It’s Evidence-based
Chiropractors, like other doctors, adhere to evidence-based practices. That means doctors of chiropractic seek first to understand the patient’s needs, values, and preferences, then apply the appropriate clinical treatments indicated by evidence-based research.
Scientific research is revealing what millions in the U.S. and around the world already know – chiropractic is effective.
According to surveys reported in Chiropractic: A Safe and Cost Effective Approach to Health, 97% of those who’ve undergone chiropractic care would use it again for treatment of neck, back, and other musculoskeletal pain. Patient polls also confirm that chiropractors have a well-deserved reputation for actively listening to patient concerns and demonstrating a high level of care and compassion.
In choosing a chiropractic program for your healthcare career, you’re choosing a healthcare profession people know and trust.
What Do Healthcare Authorities Say?
The goal of evidence-based practices is to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. The healthcare education a chiropractic program delivers rates highly for this standard of care.
Optimizing health using chiropractic is recognized by many healthcare resources:
Is a Chiropractic Program Right for You?
When a comprehensive, non-pharmaceutical approach to healthcare sounds right to you, choose to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor projects a 7% job growth for chiropractors over the next decade. More good news: healthcare’s move toward multi-disciplinary practices is increasing the working relationships among M.D.s and D.C.s for better care of patients over their lifetime.
Cleveland University-Kansas City: Chiropractic and Health Sciences
Cleveland University-Kansas City (CUKC) is a nonprofit, private, healthcare-focused university in Overland Park, Kansas, a large suburban city within the Kansas City metro. CUKC, founded in 1922, has an ongoing mission to create a healthier world. It’s a mission where we’re seeking to deliver everything we do at a higher level.
CUKC is the only chiropractic school still under the guidance of its founding family. Dr. Carl S. Cleveland, CUKC president, is a fourth-generation chiropractor.
Students can complete the educational and clinical requirements for our chiropractic program in 3.3 years (10 trimesters). The CUKC accelerated Doctor of Chiropractic degree program is completed on the CUKC campus and at Kansas City area clinical settings.
Highly disciplined students may also choose the Concurrent B.S./D.C. degree option, earning a B.S. in Human Biology while concurrently enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program.
Qualified applicants can enter a CUKC chiropractic program in September, January, or May of each year.
