In January, the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation appointed Dr. Cheryl Carpenter-Davis, Dean of Cleveland University-Kansas City’s College of Health Sciences, to the Community Foundation’s Regional Advisory Council. As a council member, she will work to advance the Community Foundation’s 2017 strategic plans.
The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation works for donors, helping them achieve their charitable goals through donor-advised funds. Since its founding in 1978, Community Foundation donors have used their funds to grant more than $3 billion to charities that are important to them. The Community Foundation also maintains a database with in-depth information on more than 600 nonprofit organizations in Kansas City. The Nonprofit Search database is available for anyone to access via www.growyourgiving.org.
“While some donors give of their resources, others give of their time,” Carpenter-Davis said. “Millennials and students can use the Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Search to identify nonprofit organizations aligned with their personal values and seek out volunteer opportunities to experience the spirit of giving back to the community.”
Carpenter-Davis has a longstanding commitment to educating and serving the local community. She is a member of the Family Conservancy Board of Directors, which supports parents, families, and educators in Greater Kansas City. During her tenure at Metropolitan Community College (MCC), she served as a Board Member for the Eastland Community Foundation, which is an affiliate of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Carpenter-Davis was the Dean of instruction at MCC before joining CUKC in October 2016.
