Dr. Edwin Newcomb, class of 1954, associate dean, and respected faculty member, passed away March 21, 2021, at the age of 94. The Newcomb family has been a mainstay of Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City history since the 1940s, with four generations graduating with their Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Edwin was a valued and valuable member of the Cleveland community.
Following his graduation in 1954, Newcomb served on the faculty of Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City (CCC-KC )from 1955 until 1979. He taught many subjects in both the basic and clinical sciences. His greatest love was teaching anatomy. Newcomb also maintained a full-time practice for 44 years. Initially, he practiced with his parents, CCC-KC alumni Dr. Vern ’40 and Dr. Mildred ’54 Newcomb, until they retired. In the early 1980s, his daughter, Dr. Stephanie Rasmussen ’83, and son-in-law, Dr. Eric Rasmussen ’81, joined his practice. He retired in 1998.
