M.S., University of Tehran
Ph.D., University of Southern California
Dr. Negahbani received his Ph.D. in chemistry, with focus on Organic, Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry, from the University of Southern California, and his masters in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tehran. He has worked extensively on synthesis of biologically active compounds with anti-cancer or antibacterial properties. He has developed a novel chemistry with applications in PET imaging for early detection of breast cancer and prostate cancer, which has been filed as a U.S. patent. Negahbani has also worked extensively on DNA repair mechanisms for cancer treatment using a set of novel DNA polymerase substrates. He has been published in several prestigious chemistry and biochemistry journals, and his findings have been presented at national and international conferences. He received the prestigious iPIDD award for excellence in Drug Discovery Research. He also served as a teaching assistant for Professor Arieh Warshel, a Nobel laureate in chemistry. His research interest includes: drug design, Organophosphorus Chemistry, natural product synthesis and Organometallics Chemistry.
