At Founders Day earlier this month, Dr. Cleveland ended with a call to action.
He challenged students and faculty to write letters to our congressmen about a certain bill that needs more co-sponsors in order to be considered on the floor in Washington, D.C. We did just that.
Seventy-four students and faculty joined in on the campaign during lunch hours last week to write letters to their congressmen via the American Chiropractic Association website. Several students volunteered to help set up computers and stand by for any questions or assistance needed. The general feedback from students was that it was surprisingly easy. They were also excited to sign up for the KC Royals ticket raffle if they wrote a letter.
The bill we pushed for pertains to chiropractic care for veterans. If the bill gets considered and passes, all VA hospitals would be mandated to have a chiropractor on staff. We feel this is an important issue because the #1 problem with which soldiers return to America is musculoskeletal issues.
If you’d like to write your congressman to urge them to support the bill, you can do so here.
