So, the summer months are here and most schools are on break. Being a chiropractic student however, means that we are in school year-round. So, how much fun can you really have during the summer when you are still going to class? The answer…tons of fun! Kansas City has plenty of events that run through the summer, and the best thing is that most of these events are cheap or even free. Here is a list of just a few of the top events going on through the summer.
1.) Hot Country Nights – The Power & Light District hosts a series of free country music concerts every week. Some of the stars coming soon include Montgomery Gentry, Dwight Yoakam, and the Eli Young Band.
2.) Cleveland Day at the “K” – This one is offered through our very own CU-KC! Every summer students get the opportunity to enjoy a Kansas City Royals game for the low price of $10! That price also includes a meal that is provided at the tailgate.
3.) The City Market – This is the largest farmers’ market in the region. Not only does it have some of the freshest, locally grown produce, but there are gift shops and restaurants to try out too!
4.) First Fridays – The first Friday of each month, head to the Crossroads Art District for the 40-gallery art crawl that includes live entertainment, sidewalk vendors and food trucks.
5.) Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art – This museum has an extremely large collection of art as well as sculptures along the south lawn. Most of the art can be viewed for free while some special exhibits do cost money.
So, as you can see, there is something for everyone. Whether you want a quiet day looking at art or a fun night out listening to music, you will find it here in Kansas City! Plus, who doesn’t like free stuff?! So make sure to study hard throughout the week and enjoy those summer weekends!
