“I was a campus ambassador for Cleveland University-Kansas City. It was a pleasure. Now that I’ve graduated, I’d like to express my views on the process, the journey, and where it has led me.”
Beginning the program was a giant leap of “well, this seems pretty difficult, and it will take a lot of time and energy, but here we go.” The first year went by rather quickly as I was busy studying for exams and trying to figure out my flow of what worked best for me to balance studies with my free time.
The first adjustment in Technique III class was a great milestone in the first year, but I knew I had a long way to go.
Pushing through to the second year was similar to the first. I was still very busy, but it was a bit different as I started to take elective adjusting classes and study more pathology and diagnosis. Things got real in the third year. That was when I started seeing patients in the student clinic. It was quite the transition, but it was an exciting one.
On to the outpatient clinic, and I hit the ground running. I saw as many patients as I could, even on Friday afternoons. I had a goal to complete my requirements early so I could participate in a preceptorship under a field doctor during my last trimester. Now, here I am. I have completed most of my clinic requirements and I have an interview soon to talk about a preceptorship opportunity. I’m eager to finish here and learn more from my hometown doctor. This has been my goal since before I even started at CUKC.
Looking back on all this, I can’t help but think that it was worth it.
The list goes on. In the end, I know it was difficult, and it took a lot of time and energy, but I got it done. I’m grateful for the knowledge, skills, and experience I’ve acquired during my time at CUKC. I’m ready to begin my own practice, and I feel that I made the right decision three years ago to take that leap and enroll in chiropractic school.
